Sue-ellen's early work and training was as a classical and contemporary dancer. She began practising Iyengar Yoga in 1986 and first attended Peter Thomson's classes at The Sydney Yoga Centre in Haymarket. Her passion for and commitment to the yoga process was crystalised after crushing one of the vertebrae in her spine at Expo '88 while stilt walking. Yoga practice was central to the healing process. Sue-ellen became a certified teacher in 1995, three weeks before the birth of her daughter, and now has a Junior Intermediate - Level 1 certification. She was teaching at the Sydney Yoga Space since the early 90's until it closed in June 2007. She now owns her own school and therapy centre - Black Lotus Studios.
Jacqui comes to yoga from a background in contemporary dance. She began studying with Peter Thomson in 1993. Since then her evolving practice of yoga has supported and informed her work with dancers in the tertiary sector and her interest in somatic forms of education. Jacqui began yoga teacher training under Peter in February 2003 and received her Introductory Level 1 certification in March 2007. She first attended the BKS Iyengar Institute in India in December 2007.
Robyn started practicing yoga and studying shiatsu in 1988 in New Zealand after sailing from South Africa. After 5 years there she transferred to Australia where she began working as a student with Peter Thomson at the Glebe Yoga School and her love of the practice of Yoga grew. In 1998 Robyn began training as a teacher with Peter and now holds a Junior Intermediate Level 1 Teaching Certificate. Robyn has continued her training and has attended Yoga Conventions in Sydney with the Iyengar family and has travelled to India in 2000 and 2007 to study at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune. After transferring to Australia Robyn also continued to deepen her understanding of Shiatsu and the potential of the body to heal itself when internal blockages are releases through empathetic contact and pressure. Robyn has been practicing as a Shiatsu therapist in private practice since 1995 and has also worked in the corporate arena. Robyn is committed to working towards the integration of the body with the emotions and the mind and through her own experience finds the combination of yoga and natural therapies complimentary to that end.
